EU organizes 7th Brussels conference on Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The European Union (EU) is organizing the 7th Brussels Conference on “Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region” on Wednesday and Thursday in Brussels.
The EU reported that the Day of Dialogue will be held on Wednesday, bringing together civil society from Syria and beyond, decision makers, and operational partners to engage in dialogue on Syria and the region as well as on its humanitarian and resilience challenges.
While, the Ministerial meeting will take place on Thursday.
The conference represents a significant opportunity to express solidarity and commitment to the people most affected by the Syrian crisis.
After twelve years of conflict in Syria, the country remains one of the largest countries that witness humanitarian crises in the world, with 6.6 million people displaced inside the country and at least 5.3 million registered refugees in neighboring countries.
With 15.3 million people requiring humanitarian assistance, representing nearly 70 per cent of the population, the Syrian people continue to face daily challenges in meeting their basic needs.
The primary objective of the Brussels Conferences is to provide ongoing assistance to the Syrian people, whether they are in Syria or have fled the country, by rallying the international community to support a comprehensive and reliable political resolution to the Syria conflict, in accordance with UN Security Council resolution 2254.
