Turkish shelling kills Russian soldier in Aleppo countryside
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, a Russian soldier was killed in Turkish shelling of the northern countryside of Aleppo.
Efrin News 24 website said, “A Turkish drone targeted a Russian personnel carrier on a route linking between the villages of Herbel and Maarat Umm Hawsh in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
A local source told North Press that the Russian troops, who were wounded, were transferred to Afrin Hospital in Aleppo countryside, and later they were transferred to another.
The extent of the troops’ wounds criticality has not been known, according to the source.
Earlier today, the website noted that the Turkish forces and their affiliated armed factions of the Syrian National Army (SNA) targeted with artillery the outskirts of the town of Tel Rifaat in tandem with flight by a Turkish drone.
The town of Tel Rifaat, 35 km north of Aleppo city, has been a shelter for Afrin displaced people since 2018 following the Turkish invasion of Afrin and its countryside which resulted in the displacement of about 300.000 of the original inhabitants.
Tel Rifaat and other villages and towns of Aleppo northern countryside, also known as Shahba region, witness Turkish bombing and shelling on almost a daily basis.
