US Reps call for designating Russia as state sponsor of terrorism

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Ted W. Lieu, United States Representative,  led on Friday a bipartisan group of members in reintroducing Russia as a State Sponsor of Terrorism Act.

The bill, that is co-led by Representatives Steve Cohen (D-TN), Joe Wilson (R-SC), Jared Golden (D-ME), Ken Buck (R-CO) and Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL), outlined Russia’s repeated support for non-state terrorist groups prior to and during the Ukraine war, Lieu said in a press release.

Bipartisan legislation to officially deem Russia a state sponsor of terrorism.

Drawing on sanctions authority originally created by Congress, the bill further isolates Russia and inflicts more economic consequences on the Russian regime.
