Russian troops return to military base in Aleppo countryside

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Russian Military Police (MP) returned to its military base in the town of Tel Rifaat in the northern countryside of Aleppo a week after they left it.

A Syrian military source told North Press that Russian troops and armored vehicles returned yesterday to the base that is situated near contact lines with the Turkish-backed factions of the Syrian National Army (SNA).

Russian patrols that roam the area near the contact lines set off from the aforementioned base. However, the Russian patrols have not stopped though Russian troops had left the base.

The military source added that moving from and to the base is limited to only switching tasks and missions of the the Russian troops in the base.

The town of Tel Rifaat, 35 km north of Aleppo city, has been a shelter for Afrin displaced people since 2018 following the Turkish invasion of Afrin and its countryside which resulted in the displacement of about 300.000 of the original inhabitants.
