ERBIL, KRI, Iraq (North Press) – Jordanian authorities announced on Tuesday thwarting a smuggling operation of 67 kilograms of Captagon pills, a drug, on the border with Syria.
A statement issued by the Jordan Customs stated that customs personnel at the Jabr Customs Center (on the Syrian border), in cooperation with security agencies, managed to foil the smuggling after suspecting a refrigerated truck. Inside the vehicle, 400,000 Captagon pills were found.
The truck was subjected to X-ray scanning and a thorough inspection, Jordon Customs said, adding that they managed to seize the drugs, which were found skillfully hidden inside the truck’s floor.
Jordanian authorities repeatedly stress their commitment to confront smuggling operations, most of which occur on the borders with Syria in recent years.
The statement urged to immediately report any suspected smuggling operations.
