Syria’s FM visits Iraq

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Fayssal Mekdad, arrived on Saturday in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on an official visit.

Syrian state-run SANA news agency said that the visit came on an invitation by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, Fuad Hussein.

Mekdad will hold talks with Iraqi senior officials to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries and discuss ways of developing them, according to SANA.

In April, Mekdad visited Algeria and Tunisia within his tour to Arab countries.

On May 19, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad officially joint the 32nd session of the Arab Summit of the Arab League, hosted in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for the first time after 12 years of war.

On May 7, Arab ministers of the Arab League agreed on Syria’s official return to its seat in the Arab League after more than 10 years of suspension.
