North Press counts May toll of ISIS operations in Syria
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press documented 18 security operations launched against the Islamic State (ISIS), and 11 attacks carried out by the group in separate areas in Syria during May.
In April, ISIS operations decreased in tandem with the rise in security operations against the group, as the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) carried out 16 operations against ISIS, while the government forces carried out two.
According to the Monitoring and Documentation Department, the group’s activity in May decreased by 63 percent compared to April, after counting operations and victims.
ISIS carried out 11 attacks, seven of which were claimed by the group. Six of these attacks targeted the SDF, three targeted the government forces, one was against the pro-Iranian militias, and one was against civilians.
Four attacks were documented in Deir ez-Zor, two each in Hasakah, Raqqa, and Homs, and one in Damascus.
The death toll of the attacks was 27, of whom 11 were killed and 16 were wounded.
The number of security campaigns against ISIS reached 18. The SDF carried out 16 operations, seven of which were launched with the support of the US-led Global Coalition, including two airdrops, during which 30 suspects were arrested, another was killed and a second was wounded.
Government forces also carried out two security operations, in which three ISIS suspects were killed, according to North Press.
The group’s attacks were distributed as follows: one in Damascus, two in Hasakah and the same number in Raqqa. ISIS also carried out two attacks in Homs and four in Deir ez-Zor.
