AANES evacuates 369 Syrians from Sudan
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Foreign Relations Department of Autonomous Administration on North and East Syria (AANES) announced on Monday evacuating 369 Syrian refugees from Sudan on three batches.
The AANES announced on April 27 the formation of a committee to help the Syrians stranded in Sudan to evacuate them.
The department said, in a statement, that it repatriated 18 people, including three babies in a second batch, and moved them to the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria.
In a third batch, it repatriated 201 people, including women and 31 babies who were stuck in Sudan, the statement added.
The third batch reached Damascus, according to the department.
On May 22, the AANES evacuated the first batch that included 161 Syrian citizens who were stranded in Sudan, a country that has been witnessing fierce clashes for about a month.
