DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Monday responsibility for carrying out an operation against Iraqi Army in Diyala Governorate, northeast Iraq. The operation is the third during the week.
ISIS-run Amaq news agency said, in a statement, that its militants planted an IED in a gathering of the Iraqi Army in Mustafa Jawad Square, in the city of al-Khales, in Diyala.
The explosion injured three people and damaged machines were in the square, according to the statement.
Two days ago, ISIS also claimed responsibility over targeting a military vehicle of the Iraqi Army, injuring two members, in the town of al-Mansoura, northern the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
On May 19, ISIS disclosed weekly toll of operations it claimed in Iraq, saying that it conducted six operations against the Iraqi army, two of which in Dijlah and one each in Saladin, Kirkuk, and al-Anbar. The group also targeted a patrol of the Iraqi army, killing and wounding 20 members.
