Libya sentences 23 ISIS-related militants to death

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A Libyan court sentenced on Monday 23 Islamic State (ISIS) militants to death for launching deadly attacks that killed dozens of people, including Egyptians.

The appeals court in the western city of Misrata also sentenced 14 other militants, including a Syrian, to life in prison after they were convicted on the same charges.

In addition, the court sentenced nine defendants to between three and 12 years in prison.

They are accused for several terrorist issues, including the killing of Egyptian Coptic Christians in 2015 and exploding a training post for policemen in 2015.

Hundreds of alleged former ISIS militants remain incarcerated in Libyan prisons, many of whom are awaiting trial.
