Turkey closes all border crossings with Syria
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Syrian-Turkish border crossings in areas held by Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka Syrian National Army (SNA), witnessed on Saturday complete closure one day ahead of the second round of Turkish elections.
An informed source of Bab al-Hawa border crossing’s administration told North Press that the closure took place based on instructions from the Turkish side, and it has started today and it will last till Monday.
The closure comprised the crossings of Jarablus, al-Rai, Bab al-Salamah, Bab al-Hawa, Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tel Abyad, according to the source.
Turkish citizens and military and security forces are excluded, the source added.
This comes in tandem with intensifying security readiness of all the SNA factions and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) on front lines and posts.
Turkey also closed the crossings during the first round of the elections, stopping local organizations’ work, amid a state of tension dominating the SNA-held areas.
