5 people killed, wounded in bus targeting in Syria’s Homs
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Three people were killed on Monday and two others were wounded in an unknown missile attack on a bus in Sukhnah Desert east of Homs, in central Syria.
A local source from Sukhnah told North Press that a bus, picking passengers coming from Damascus and heading to Deir ez-Zor, a governorate east Syria, was targeted with a missile attack while travelling on the main route in the Sukhnah Desert.
The source added that the party that was behind the attack has not been identified.
The source noted that the attack resulted in the killing of three individuals from Deir ez-Zor and the wounding of two others, who were immediately transformed to a field hospital in the city of Palmyra, in central Syria.
The two wounded individuals are in “a very critical health condition,” according to the same source.
The Syrian Desert covers nearly half of the area of Syria, and is distributed over the governorates of Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Rif Dimashq, Suwayda and Palmyra.
Iranian-backed militias and the government forces control large areas of the Syrian Desert and the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, which constitutes a source of concern as it witnesses intensive operations by the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) sleeper cells.
