China supports rapprochement efforts between Syria, Arab states
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun stressed on Saturday his country’s support to the current positive development in the regard of Arab outreach to Syria.
Earlier today, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad received Zhai Jun in the Syrian capital Damascus, and they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as, a group of international issues.
The Chinese Government on the Middle East issue also met the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Mekdad.
Zhai Jun stressed China’s support for the positive development in the rapprochement between Syria and other Arab countries.
He reiterated Beijing’s support for Syria in international forums, in word and deeds, in defense of justice and truth.
He confirmed his country’s satisfaction over the victory achieved by the Syrian people in their battle against terrorism as it is a victory for the countries that defend their sovereignty and dignity.
The Syrian president, in turn, affirmed that Syria doesn’t forget China’s support during the battle to defend Syria’s sovereignty and it highly appreciates Beijing’s humanitarian assistance in the aftermath of the Feb. 6 earthquake.
