SDF arrest ISIS operative in Syria’s Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested on Saturday a prominent logistic militant of Islamic State (ISIS) in the countryside Hasakah Governorate, northeast Syria.

The Companied Special Operations Joint Task Force- Levant (CSOJTF) said, in a tweet, that “the SDF carried out a unilateral raid to capture an ISIS operative and degrade ISIS transportation and smuggling operations” in Dashisha area, in Hasakah.

The captured ISIS operative is Salih Dahmash, the statement added.

“The capture of Dahmash will disrupt and degrade ISIS’s ability to smuggle lethal aid and personnel between northeast Syria and Iraq,” the CSOJTF stated.

“The SDF have showcased their capabilities to conduct successful independent operations in the enduring defeat of ISIS,” said US Air Force Bring Gen. Claude Tudor.

In addition, the statement pointed out that the SDF coordinated with US-led Global Coalition to defeat ISIS for post-operational data collection in order to “analyze and disrupt ISIS network.”

The coalition forces stressed their commitment to advising, assisting, and enabling the SDF to maintain security and stability throughout the region, the statement concluded.
