Egypt’s FM calls for ending foreign “interference” in Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry called for ending “foreign interference” in Syria for security and stability prevail in the country.
Shoukry made his speech in a phone call with the US Special Envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen.
Shoukry stressed his country’s support for Pedersen’s efforts to reach a comprehensive political settlement in Syria under the UN Resolution No. 2254.
On April 1, Shoukry received Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Mekdad in a first visit since the beginning of the Syrian war in 2011.
Pedersen thanked and praised Egypt for its support and help in solving the Syrian crisis.
The two officials also discussed ways to ease sufferings of the Syrian people.
