Blast occurs in Sulaimaniyah International Airport in KRI

ERBIL, KRI, Iraq (North Press) – On Friday, an unspecified blast took place near Sulaimaniyah International Airport in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), recording no casualties or damages.

The airport administration said in a statement that the explosion that took place inside the airport did not record any human or material losses.

The administration added that air navigation services have not stopped and flights are continuing too.

Local media said that the explosion was launched with a drone.

Turkey has announced closing its air space for planes landing in and leaving from the Sulaimaniyah International Airport since April 3 under the pretext of increasing activities of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

Turkey also banned on Thursday flights heading from Germany to use its air space to reach the airport.
