Syria NEC records 9 tremors in 24 hours
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, Syria National Center (SNC) said nine tremors of 3.6 magnitude were recorded in 24 hours.
The SNC, on its Facebook account, said, “Two tremors were recorded in Sanjak of Alexandretta, the first was of 2.7 magnitude in west of Idlib by about 43 km, and the second 2.5 magnitude tremor hit northwest of Idlib by about 70 km.”
A 3.1 magnitude tremor was recorded northwest of Aleppo by about 109 km, another 3.5 magnitude one was recorded southwestern Latakia by about 38 km, a 2.9 magnitude other tremor struck southeastern Latakia by about 11 km, and another 2.2 magnitude tremor was recorded in Gulf of Alexandretta in addition to three other tremors that hit Turkish soil.
The center noted that intensity of aftershocks and earthquakes is measured on a scale between 1 and 10 points, where 1 to 4 earthquake is considered slight, does not cause damages and can be felt, from 4 to 6 causes mild destruction to buildings, and the earthquake of between 7 to 10 is the highest scale one that can destroy an entire city.
