Side meetings not solve Syrian issue – AANES

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Badran Chiya Kurd, Co-chair of Foreign Relations Department of Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), said on Wednesday that Syrian war has become an international issue and cannot be solved in side meetings.

“Since a while, rapprochements go through regional and Arabic movement with the Syrian regime, as the goals of rapprochements differ from a country to another, based on political, security and economic prioritization for each country,” Kurd added.

On April 4, Deputy of Foreign Ministers of Syria, Russia, Iran and Turkey held a meeting in Moscow and discussed the preparations for dates for a four-side meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers of their countries.

Kurd pointed out that the recent meeting in Moscow comes in tandem with persistent efforts to support Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan because internal affairs of his country are difficult and crucial in this stage of presidential elections.

All of these developments are a continuation for Astana meetings but in its new political copy in coordination with the Syrian government instead of Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka Syrian National Army (SNA) in the previous meetings, according to Kurd.

Round 19 of Astana talks was held on 22 and 23 of Nov. 2022 in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan.

“There are no hopes for the Syrian people out of such meetings, as the Syrian crisis has got an international dimension, as bilateral and trilateral meetings cannot provide a final political solution, especially that the Syrian resolution is absent or usurped,” the AANES official said.

Any agreement in such meetings will lead to legalize the Turkish occupation politically, in addition to setting fake goals by Turkey and engage other parties to achieve these goals, such as targeting the AANES in all meetings that Turkey participate in, which pushes Syria to another internal war that will be bloodier, Kurd stressed.

In addition, Kurd called for the withdrawal of Turkey form all Syrian areas and stopping interfering in Syria’s internal affairs.
