ISIS claims 2 attacks in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor, Iraq
DEIR EZ-Zor, Syria (North Press) – Islamic State (ISIS), through close outlets, claimed responsibility on Friday for two different attacks, one in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria, and one in Iraq.
ISIS-run Amaq news agency said in a statement that the group’s militants targeted with machineguns what they said to be “a spy” for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the town of al-Busayrah east of Deir ez-Zor.
On March 27, ISIS claimed responsibility for an attack on an SDF checkpoint near the entrance of the town of al-Hawaij in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
In another statement, the group claimed an attack against a checkpoint of the Iraqi army in western al-Anbar.
Amaq reported that ISIS militants attacked with light and medium weapons a military vehicle of the Iraqi army near the Akashat–Rutba road in western al-Anbar.
The attack caused material damage to the checkpoint.
Two days earlier, the group claimed responsibility for attacking a military vehicle belonging to the Iraqi army on the same road.
