20 aftershocks recorded in 24 hours – NEC Syria

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian National Earthquake Center (NEC), affiliated with the Syrian government, said that 20 mild aftershocks had been recorded since Wednesday up until Thursday at 08:00 am.

The center stated that they recorded nine aftershocks in Iskenderun, one in Lebanon, and ten in Turkey.

The NEC noted that the magnitude of the quakes varied between 1.8 and 3.8 on Richter scale and reached 72.8km deep.

Many regions across Syria and Turkey experienced thousands of aftershocks since the February 6 earthquake leaving behind great losses and casualties.

On February, 6, devastating earthquakes hit southern Turkey and northwest Syria, killing more than 50,000 and injuring many more, in addition to destroying thousands of buildings.
