Families of Syria’s Jindires victims protest calling for justice

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Families of victims who lost their lives in the town Jindires in Afrin countryside, northwest Syria, protested on Thursday, demanding that those who committed the crime must be prosecuted.

In a statement, the protestors, who gathered in front of the house of the victims, also called for the expulsion of Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), from the region.

On March 20, three militants of the Turkish-backed Ahrar al-Sharqiya shot to death three brothers and a son of one of them in Jindires as they were igniting Newroz flame. However, another person lost his life after sustaining serious injuries.

The statement denounced the crime and called on the Opposition Syrian National Coalition to take a firm and clear stance towards those factions and the crime.

The statement also called for the expulsion f those factions from areas in Afrin region to military posts and front lines to fight the Syrian “regime” and other parties if they want.

The protestors also demanded that all Kurdish civilians who are detained by the SNA factions must be liberated, indicating that the have been detained for five years for no reasons.

In addition, they demanded that all property seized by the SNA factions must be returned to owners.

The statement called for international protection for Afrin region and its people, in addition to Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tel Abyad, northern Syria, amid violations that are overwhelming those areas.
