ISIS militants kill 4 government soldiers in Syria’s Homs

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, four soldiers of the Syrian government forces, including a lieutenant, were killed in an attack by Islamic State (ISIS) in Palmyra Desert east of Homs, central Syria.

A military source from the government forces said armed men of ISIS targeted with machineguns and missiles posts of Liwa 131 of the 18th Division in the vicinity of Palmyra Desert in the eastern countryside of Homs.

The source told North Press that the attack resulted in the killing of Lieutenant “Ahmad al-Arjan,” who hails from Deir ez-Zor, and three other soldiers.

The Iranian-backed militias and government forces control vast areas of the Syrian Badia (Desert) and Deir ez-Zor, which have recently witnessed growing activities by ISIS.

On March 19, attackers, suspected to be operatives of ISIS, killed two members of the pro-government the National Defense Forces (NDF) and wounded two militants of the Iranian-backed Liwa al-Quds militia in Ayyash desert in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
