Syria’s Assad arrives in UAE on official visit

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, accompanied by his wife, Asma al-Assad, arrived on Sunday in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in an official visit, Syria’s state-run news agency SANA reported. Al-Assad was received by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, President of the UAE.

This is the first official visit paid by al-Assad to an Arab country since the outbreak of the Syrian conflict in 2011, when the UAE and others Gulf States supported the Syrian opposition.

In February, al-Assad paid a one-day visit to the Sultanate of Oman where he was received by Sultan Haitham bin Tariq al-Said, Sultan of Oman and held talks at the royal palace in Muscat.
