DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – One Soldier of the Syrian government forces was shot dead on Saturday by unknown armed men in an attack on a government headquarters in a town east of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
A military source from the government forces in the town of Abu Kamal, in the far eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, said unknown armed men, riding a motorbike, targeted a detachment of the government Military Security Branch on the outskirts of Abu Kamal with a machinegun.
The source added the attack resulted in the killing of “Haydar Ali,” who hails from the city of Homs, in central Syria, a guard in the detachment.
Since 2017, the Syrian government forces and Iranian-backed militias have been running vast swaths of the Syrian Desert and the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, where Islamic State (ISIS) is active and increases practices that have caused the forces massive human and material losses.
Two days ago, the same detachment was also attacked with a machinegun, but losses were limited to only material losses.
