SDF Commander mourns “martyrs” of helicopters crash

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Commander in Chief Mazloum Abdi mourned on Friday the “martyrdom” of nine Counter-Terrorism Units (YAT) fighters of the SDF in a helicopters crash while heading to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).

Abdi said in a tweet, “Nine fighters of our Counter-Terrorism Units (YAT), including their leader, Shervan Kobani, lost their lives while heading to the KRI.”

The SDF Commander in Chief extended his condolences to “the martyrs’ families.”

Abdi stressed the SDF forces will continue the SDF fighters’ “course to preserve our people and homeland’s freedom.”

Earlier on Friday, the SDF Media Center announced that nine YAT fighters lost their lives while heading to the KRI in the course of joint work against Islamic State (ISIS).
