Sudan repatriates ISIS nationals from AANES in Syria’s Qamishli

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) handed over on Thursday women and children of the Islamic State (ISIS) of Sudanese nationals to their government.

A delegation from Sudan visited the headquarters of the AANES Department of Foreign Relations in the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria, to repatriate two women and three children who were in a camp for ISIS families in NE Syria.

The delegation included Chargé d’Affaires of the Sudanese embassy in Damascus, Tareq Abdullah Ali Muhammad, embassy’s diplomatic advisor Jalal al-Din Muhammad Abdullah Ya’qoub, and Diya’ al-Din Reshdi Muhammad Hassan, an official at the embassy.

The delegation was received by officials of the AANES Department of Foreign Relations.

The two parties discussed the political and economic situations in addition to the Turkish threats on the region.

The AANES thanked the Sudanese government for repatriating its citizens from northeast Syria.

Tens of thousands of women and children of ISIS families from about 60 countries are still in the two camps of Hawl and Roj within the AANES-held areas in northeast Syria, in addition to thousands of ISIS members in prisons who were surrendered to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) during the fall of ISIS last stronghold of Baghuz in Deir ez-Zor Governorate.

The AANES continues calling for the countries to repatriate their nationals and establish an international tribunals for the ISIS members because they pose a significant risk to the civilians in the region.

In February, the AANES handed over 59 women and children of the ISIS families of Kyrgyz nationals to the delegation of their country.
