7 ISIS members arrested in separate operations in Iraq

ERBIL, KRI, Iraq, (North Press) – In separate security statements issued during the past 24 hours, the Iraqi forces announced the arrest of seven members of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the governorates of Kirkuk and Nineveh, in the center and northeast of the country.

The Iraqi Security Media Cell said in a statement that, “Two ISIS members were arrested by Kirkuk’s Intelligence and security forces in a qualitative operation inside the city.”

One of the two agents was distributing money to ISIS families, in addition to providing the terror group with information regarding the moves of the Iraqi security forces, while the other agent was transferring logistical materials to the ISIS cells, according to the security media cell.

In another statement, the security cell said that the Federal Investigation and Intelligence Agency arrested four ISIS members in Nineveh Governorate, who were operating with ISIS in Diyala and Anbar Governorates under different nicknames and titles.

The statement added that “one of the terrorists was arrested on his return from a neighboring country”, without mentioning the name of the country. 

The Iraqi security forces arrested an ISIS member in an ambush in the village of al-Awadiya in Daquq district, south of Kirkuk, the Iraqi forces stated.

“This ISIS agent used to distribute foodstuffs, health supplies, and light equipment to ISIS members, “the statement added.
