Russia to ease visa measures with Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Russia is preparing to simplify visa system with a number of “friendly countries” including Syria, India, and Indonesia, Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Ivanov said.

The Russian News Agency TASS cited Ivanov as saying that in addition to India “we are also working on draft inter-government agreements that imply mutual simplification of visa regime with Angola, Vietnam, Indonesia, Syria and the Philippines.”

He had earlier unveiled that his country was to conclude agreements on Visa-free travel and ease tourist visa requirements with 11 countries.

Meanwhile, Russia’s electronic visas program, which was halted due to coronavirus pandemic, is to resume for about 70 countries except for “unfriendly ones which have stopped issuing visas to us in a simplified manner,” Ivanov added.
