DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, six people were killed and 40 others were injured by a blast from an old Islamic State (ISIS) mine. The victims had been searching for truffles in a town south of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

A military source of Syrian government forces said that an ISIS landmine exploded near a truck carrying about 50 workers who were searching for truffles in the village of Kabajib south of Deir ez-Zor.

Six people were killed and 40 others sustained various injuries, the source added, citing a doctor in the al-Assad Hospital in Deir ez-Zor.

The victims work for one of the military commanders of the Syrian government, the source added.

The incident is the fifth of its kind during this week. Eleven people have been killed and 48 injured so far.

Two days ago, a landmine explosion left by ISIS killed a man and injured his son in the southern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
