Blasts kill 10, wound 12 people in Syria’s Hama
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, 10 people died and 12 were wounded in two landmine explosions on the outskirts of Salamiyah in the eastern countryside of Hama Governorate in western Syria.
Nine people died, and two others were wounded who taken to Salamiyah Public Hospital following a landmine explosion while searching for truffles in the village of al-Mestriha in the eastern countryside of Salamiyah, the state-run Syrian news agency SANA reported.
SANA added that one person died, and ten others sustained different injuries while collecting truffles when another landmine exploded east of the city.
On Feb. 17, 53 people, including Syrian government forces, died in an ISIS attack in the city of Sukhnah in the eastern countryside of Homs Governorate while gathering truffles.
The Syrian Desert has been witnessing daily attacks by ISIS sleeper cells against people, government facilities and headquarters, and Iranian military positions despite repeated combing operations by the government forces.
Iranian-backed militias control large areas of the Syrian Desert and the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, after expulsion of the ISIS from the area in 2017.
