Earthquake victims’ Toll in Syria reaches 3.694 Deaths, 14.814 Injuries
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The toll of the victims of the earthquake that hit Syria on Feb. 6 at dawn has risen to 3.694 deaths and 14.814 injuries in a provisional count.
On Tuesday, the Syrian government announced that the final toll for the earthquake victims in areas under its control reached 1.414 deaths and 2.357 injuries.
The Civil Defense of the Syrian opposition in Idlib declared the fatalities number in northwest Syria has reached 2.274 deaths and more than 12.400 injuries up until Monday night.
The civil defense has not released a final death toll in northwest Syria as dead body recovery operations are still ongoing in several places in Idlib and Aleppo countryside.
In areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), the Health Board has, so far, recorded six dead and 57 injured.
The death toll is expected to rise significantly as hope fades in rescuing thousands of bodies still under the rubble nine days after the earthquake hit.
