Syrian opposition rejects AANES-sent humanitarian aid – SDC official
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, an official in Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) said the Syrian opposition rejects to receive humanitarian aid sent from areas of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
Riyad Dirar, co-chair of the SDC, said, “There are ready convoys from AANES, but the [Syrian opposition’s] Interim Government and [Syrian National] Coalition reject to receive it via an agreed crossing and demand aid be sent through commissioned crossings with Turkey.”
“The coalition and Interim Government contribute to kill remainder of innocents,” he said.
Dirar noted that “Convoys of aid, fuel and vehicles from the AANES are ready, but the delay owes to those who allege representing the Syrian people.”
A well-informed local source told media outlets “There is dispute in the Interim Government in Idlib whether to receive [the AANES] aid or not.”
“Relief organizations welcome AANES’s initiative to send aid. The Interim Government rejects to do that under orders from Turkey,” according to the source.
