Person died, another wounded in building collapse in Aleppo city
ALEPPO (North Press) – A person died and another was wounded on Saturday after a building collapsed in the neighborhood of al-Fardos in the city of Aleppo, north Syria, while looking for wood pieces to use it for heating.
On January 22, sixteen people (mostly children) lost their lives and others were wounded in a building collapse in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo.
North Press correspondent in Aleppo said, “Two young men, whose identities could not be verified, were admitted to al-Razi Hospital in the city of Aleppo this evening; one of them lost his life and the other remains critically wounded.”
No further information were obtainable as the hospital administration rejected to make any commentary.
The source said that the two people were looking for timber amid lack of fuel due to a blockade imposed by the government’s Fourth Armored Division on some neighborhoods in the city and areas in the northern countryside of Aleppo for nearly three months.
The division prevents the entry of fuel, food products, and medications to the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh and other areas since August 2022, exacerbating the already difficult living conditions of residents.
On January 24, Amnesty International urged, in a statement, the Syrian government forces to lift its “brutal” siege on civilians in the “predominantly Kurdish areas in the northern Aleppo region that is obstructing residents’ access to fuel and other essential supplies.”
