SNA’s Military Police arrests 8 SNA members in Afrin city

AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Military Police of the Turkish-backed opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), arrested eight members of Ahrar al-Sham, a member faction, in the city of Afrin, north of Aleppo.

A local source told North Press, “The Military Police arrested eight members of the SNA’s Ahrar al-Sham faction on Villat Avenue in Afrin city.”

The arrest came after the faction’s members made remarks critical of Turkey in the aftermath of a Turkish drone strike which killed a member of Ahrar al-Sham on January 25, the source said.

However, the source added, the Military Police hid the real reason for their arrest behind drug use charges.

The city of Afrin and its countryside have been under the control of Turkey and Turkish-backed SNA following an invasion in 2018.
