DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two militants of the Iranian-backed Liwa al-Quds militia were killed on Tuesday in an armed attack against their headquarters in the town of al-Sukhnah in eastern Homs, central Syria.
A military source within the militia said, “Unknown armed men riding 4WDs – which held banners of the Islamic State [ISIS] – targeted with machine guns and RPGs a headquarters of the pro-Iran Liwa al-Quds on the outskirts of the town of al-Sukhnah.”
The source added that two members of Iraqi nationality were killed in the attack. That was followed by reinforcements by pro-Iran militias and Syrian government forces to the area to pursue the attackers.
On January 29, two members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed by unknown assailants in the town of al-Mere’iyah in eastren Deir ez-Zor.
