ISIS claims responsibility for targeting SDF checkpoint in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Monday responsibility for targeting a military checkpoint of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

ISIS-run Amaq news agency said, in a statement, that ISIS militants targeted a military checkpoint of the SDF in the village of Barshem in al-Busayrah district, east of Deir ez-Zor, with machineguns and grenades. 

The attack resulted in the injury of two SDF fighters, according to the statement.

Areas of Deir ez-Zor witness increasing attacks against the SDF amid growing activities of ISIS sleeper cells in the region.

On Jan. 26, ISIS claimed responsibility for targeting a checkpoint of the SDF in a town east of Deir ez-Zor. The attack claimed lives of two SDF fighters.
