Turkish border guards kill young man in northern Aleppo

AZAZ, Syria (North Press) – A Syrian young man was killed at the Turkish-Syrian border near the city of al-Rai in the northern countryside of Aleppo when he attempted to cross the border towards the Turkish territory.

A source told North Press that Turkish border guards shot young man Ahmad Gaafar, 20, killing him instantly.

The source added that the body of the young man was taken to al-Rai hospital so it can later be handed to his parents.

Those attempting to cross the border are on the rise, especially with the recent bombardment between Syrian government forces backed by Russia and Turkish-backed opposition factions, also called the Syrian National Army (SNA).

The monitoring and documentation team at North Press documented, since the beginning of 2023, the killing of three people and the injury of four others by Turkish border guards while attempting to cross the border.
