Turkish mortars target government forces in Syria’s Kobani

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces targeted on Friday a post of the Syrian government forces in the western countryside of Kobani, northern Syria, with mortars.

A military source told North Press, “Five mortars fell down near a post of the government forces in the village of Zor Maghar in the western countryside of Kobani.”

The source added that the shelling was launched from Jarablus, a city held by the Turkish-backed armed Syrian opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA).

Zor Maghar is situated off Jarablus on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, and it is the last village in the western countryside of Kobani.

Earlier on Friday, a Turkish soldier was killed and another was wounded in shelling by the Syrian government forces of a Turkish base in the village of Hazwan in the countryside of al-Bab, a city east of Aleppo.

Earlier today, the Turkish forces and their affiliated armed Syrian opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), shelled the government positions in several towns and villages in the northern countryside of Aleppo with heavy artillery.
