Asayish Arrest 2 ISIS agents involved in Syria’s Raqqa Attack

NEWSROOM (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) arrested two Islamic State Organization (ISIS) agents with links to perpetrators of the recent attack on the Asayish headquarters in Raqqa, north Syria.

The Asayish said in a statement that their special units, with areal support from the US-led Global Coalition, conducted on Jan. 2 a security operation in Maysaloun area in the northern countryside of Raqqa.

The operation resulted in the arrest of two ISIS agents, connected to ISIS militants involved in the attack on the Asayish headquarters in Raqqa in December 2022.

Documentations in the arrested ISIS agents’ possession were seized after inspecting their whereabouts, according to the statement

The attack that ISIS claimed responsibility for led to the death of one agent of the attacking ISIS sleeper cell and the arrest of another.

The Board of Interior of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced that three Asayish members and three Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters lost their lives in the attack.
