SDF arrests 3 ISIS militants in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Wednesday the arrest of three Islamic State Organization (ISIS) militants in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria, in the Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt” Operation.

The SDF Media Center said in a statement counter-terrorism forces of the SDF, supported by the US-led Global Coalition, carried out three security operations against ISIS sleeper cells in Deir ez-Zor countryside on Jan. 1 and 2.

The statement added that these operations resulted in the arrest of three ISIS militants and the seizing of weapons, military equipment, and smart devices they possessed.

On Dec. 29, SDF announced launching Operation “Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt” in the countryside of both Hasakah and Qamishli, northeast Syria, to pursue sleeper cells of ISIS.

The SDF announced on Jan. 1 the arrest of nine “wanted terrorists” in the countryside of the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria, during the fourth day of the “Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt” Operation.
