QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Spokesperson for the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) announced on Friday that 600 Islamic State Organization (ISIS) militants were killed and 374 were arrested in operations launched during 2022 in Syria and Iraq.
In an exclusive interview with Erbil-based Rudaw agency, Major Rachael Jeffcoat, spokesperson for the CJTF-OIR said the coalition will continue to advise and assist both Kurdish forces Peshmerga and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in their fight against ISIS.
She added, “The SDF is a credible force that we work with that we partner with. And they are our only combat credible force in northeast Syria and we will maintain to advise, assist, [and] enable that Syrian Democratic Forces.”
The CJTF-OIR spokesperson told Rudaw that ISIS “constantly looks for targets of opportunities” to continue its moves.
She noted the coalition forces and its partners in both countries carried out 313 operations against ISIS in 2022.
