ISIS leader wounded in airstrike in Aleppo’s al-Bab
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – A leader of the Islamic State (ISIS) was wounded on Tuesday in an airstrike, likely by the US-led Global Coalition, which targeted his home in the city of al-Bab, east of Aleppo.
Since 2017, the city of al-Bab has been under the control of Turkish forces and the Syrian opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA).
A military source in the city of al-Bab told North Press, “The target was an ISIS leader who holds Yemeni citizenship and goes by the name Abu Yasser al-Yemeni.”
He added that the ISIS leader was taken to al-Bab Hospital. The SNA’s Military Police tightened up security around his room, and prevented the disclosure of other information regarding his health condition.
The source noted that after relevant authorities examined remnants of the missile that hit al-Yemeni’s home, the attack was determined to be carried out by the US-led Coalition.
The ISIS leader’s home, which is located near the al-Bab’s Souk, was targeted at 1 pm.
The Coalition is yet to comment on the attack.
