Turkish forces shell Syria’s Manbij

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, the Turkish forces and the affiliated armed opposition factions, known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), shelled the western countryside of the city of Manbij in northern Syria.

A local source said that the Turkish forces and the SNA factions shelled the village of al-Kawikli, west of Manbij for the third time in two days.

The forces fired three artillery shells on the village, the source added.

The city of Manbij, east of Aleppo, is one of the most important industrial centers in northern Syria, as it is a transportation hub and sits on a commercial road linking the Autonomous Administration held areas with those of the Syrian government, in addition to opposition-held areas in northern Syria.

Since November 20, the Turkish forces have continued targeting the areas on the border strip with Turkey and contact lines, causing massive devastation to civilians’ possessions and infrastructures.

On December 14, the Turkish forces and the SNA factions shelled the village of al-Musinli in the northern countryside of Manbij with ten mortar shells.
