Russian MP conduct 3rd one-sided patrol in Syria’s Kobani
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Russian Military Police (MP) conducted on Monday, for the third time, a one-sided patrol without the participation of Turkish forces, in the eastern countryside of Kobani, northern Syria.
A Russian-Turkish joint patrol was scheduled to be conducted, however, the Turkish forces did not participate in it.
The joint patrols have started since 2019 following a ceasefire agreement between Russia and Turkey after the latter launched the so-called “Peace Spring” operation against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and occupied the two cities of Tel Abyad and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in northern Syria.
The patrol, which consisted of four Russian military vehicles, set off from the village of Gharib, 15 km east of Kobani.
The patrol passed the villages of Qaramogh, Kharabisan Tahtani and Baghdik in the eastern countryside, reaching the villages of Khana, in the western countryside of Tel Abyad.
The patrol returned to its starting point in the village of Gharib, passing through the villages of Baghdik, Kharabisan Tahtani, Holaqiya, Telk and Boztepe.
Then, the Russian military vehicles returned to their position near the town of Sirrin, south of Kobani.
On Dec. 5, Russian MP cancelled a joint patrol with the Turkish forces for the third consecutive time, as it was scheduled to be conducted in the western countryside of Kobani.
The three patrols have been canceled due to Turkish military escalation on Kobani, according to an exclusive source.
Since November 20, Kobani was subjected to fierce military escalation by Turkish warplanes. The bombardment also covered vast swaths of lands in northern Syria.
As a result of the Turkish escalation, civilians, fighters of the SDF and the Syrian government forces were targeted and infrastructure sites were devastated, including gas and oil facilities.
On Nov. 14, the Russian MP and the Turkish forces conducted the 119th patrol in the eastern countryside of Kobani.
