Child dies from burns sustained in IDP camp in Syria’s Raqqa

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, a child died from burns – which she sustained in an IDP camp in north of Raqqa city, northern Syria – after entering the ICU two days ago.

On Tuesday, 11 children sustained burns of variable severity in a fire which broke out in a school at the Tel al-Samen IDP camp.

A medical source at the Raqqa National Hospital told North Press that the child Malkan Ahmed Qader, 14, lost her lives due to the burns.

The source added to North Press that the child died after sustaining third degree burns in all of her body, in addition to having respiratory problems due to the amount of smoke she inhaled.

Earlier, a medical source at the hospital said that two of the injured are in a critical condition in the ICU.

The blaze was caused after a fuel-fired stove turned upside down while many were gathered around it, torching the tent which was turned to a classroom in the Tel al-Samen camp.
