QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Syrian parliament approved the state’s general budget bill for 2023, with a total of 16.550 billion Syrian pounds (SYP), about three billion US dollars.
The draft specified appropriations for running operations at 13.550 billion SYP for current expenditure, and 3.000 billion for investment expenditure, with an increase by about 3.225 billion SYP from the year before.
The state-run SANA News Agency reported that during the session of the budget law, the parliament members committee raised issues related to the work of the Ministry of Finance and combating tax evasion.
Parliament members also proposed holding periodic meetings between the government and members of the parliament from various constituencies to discuss and address all service and living issues, according to SANA.
“The intensive discussions regarding the 2023 budget were objective and transparent, and dealt extensively with social support figures and support for the agricultural and industrial sectors,” the Syrian Minister of Finance, Kinan Yaghi, noted.
