Coalition conducts two patrols in northeast Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday morning US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS conducted two separate patrols that roamed oil fields and areas in northeast Syria.
The two patrols left the military base of the Global Coalition forces in the town of Rmelan, northeastern Syria.
An exclusive military source told North Press that the Global Coalition has begun the joint patrols since Friday after they were reduced as a result of Turkish airstrikes and ground attacks that started on Nov. 20.
The first patrol consisted of several Hummer vehicles, which roamed villages in the countryside of Chel Agha (al-Jawadiya) and Terbe Spi (al-Qahtaniyah) towns, then to the oil fields.
During the past few days, some oil installations in the town of Terbe Spi (al-Qahtaniyah) have been subjected to Turkish airstrikes, causing severe damage to them.
On Nov. 23, the SDF announced suspending its mission against ISIS due to the latest Turkish escalation on northeast Syria.
Since November 20, 2022, Turkish air force has launched intense airstrikes on all Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES)-held areas on Syrian-Turkish border in addition to bombarding areas which are more than 40 km away from the border such as the Global Coalition military base and Hawl Camp in Hasakah and the village of Makman in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
As for the second patrol, it consisted Bradley combat vehicles, which also headed to the town of Terbe Spi (al-Qahtaniyah) and to Houri Center for rehabilitation of ISIS members’ children in the countryside of Qamishli.
Houri center, established four years ago in Tel Ma’rouf area in Qamishli countryside, is the first center designated for the rehabilitation of ISIS members’ children from extremist ideologies and reintegrate them into civil societies. The center accommodates children aged 12-18 years old.
The patrol stopped at villages in that area and roamed among the residents, who asked them to stop the Turkish attacks that threaten their safety, livelihood, energy and oil facilities.
