Erdogan exploits nationalistic sentiments to win elections – SDC official
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The ongoing Turkish escalation “aims at exploiting nationalistic sentiments for Erdogan to win the elections,” co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), Riyad Dirar, said on Thursday.
In a statement to North Press, Dirar added that the occurring escalation is “an agreement between Turkey, Russia and Astana team that is meant to address the US presence east of the Euphrates.”
Turkey, since Sunday mid-night, has been launching airstrikes on northern Syria, causing humanitarian losses and devastation in infrastructures.
He noted that the SDC seeks to contact with international powers and send several messages to organizations and political parties in the European countries, wishing they take deterrent measures against these assaults.
He also deplored the Syrian government for its inaction regarding the Turkish assaults, adding that it used to “retaining the right to respond.”
Dirar went further saying that the Turkish operation came “after coordination in Moscow between intelligences of both Turkey and the Syrian regime, the operation is a proof that everyone knows the contrived incidents.”
He necessitated that international powers take “deterrent measures” against the Turkish intervention into Syria, stressing “statements are not enough.”
