Asayish arrest 6 people of ISIS families escaped from Syria’s Hawl camp

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) arrested on Wednesday six people related to the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) escaped from Hawl Camp following the disruption in the camp caused by a nearby Turkish airstrike.

Earlier, an official in the Hawl Camp said a Turkish warplane targeted a post held by Asayish members guarding and watching the camp in nearby.

Ferhad Shami, head of Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) tweeted: “The Internal Security Forces have arrested 6 members of ISIS families, including 3 women, who escaped earlier from the al-Hol camp following Turkish attack on the camp security forces.”

Shami noted ISIS affiliates sought to exploit the insecurity in the camp in the aftermath of the Turkish air raid.

The SDF continued, “The exceptional security situation is now under control.”

Hawl Camp, some 45 km to the east of the city of Hasakah is home to thousands of ISIS foreign fighters’ wives representing different backgrounds.

Earlier in the evening, SDF announced suspending its anti-ISIS mission owing to its preoccupation with the recently launched Turkish aerial operation against north and northeast Syria since Saturday night.
