KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – The city of Kobani, northern Syria on the border with Turkey, was subjected on early Sunday to bombing by Turkish warplanes. The bombardment also covered vast swaths of lands in northern Syria.
Three explosions shook the city.
Sources told North Press that Turkish warplanes targeted with three air raids the Meshtanour hill, southeast of the city.
One of the airstrikes targeted a position near the broadcasting service, west of Kobani.
No information have been provided regarding any casualties among civilians.
The Turkish bombardment expanded to include Daqel Baqel power station in the countryside of Derik (al-Malikiyah) in far northeast Syria. The strikes led to a power outage in the area.
The bombardment also targeted areas in the northern countryside of Aleppo, locally known as Shahba region where displace people of Afrin region have been residing in since Turkey occupied it in 2018 following a military operation called “Olive Branch”. No further information have been provided.
Farhad Shami, the head of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Media Center, said that the bombardment targeted the city of Kobani and other areas on the Syrian-Turkish border, adding that Turkey bombard the city which defeated the Islamic State (ISIS). “Kobane [Kobani], The city that defeated ISIS, is subjected to bombardment by the aircraft of the Turkish occupation.”
